There's nothing better than a good steak.  I'm partial to ribeyes.  But what do you do when there's no store nearby or open?

Alabama now has what most consider the first vending machine in America to sell fresh meat.

By simply dropping a few bucks and pushing a button customers can leave with fresh cuts of meat like pork steaks, sirloin and the aforementioned ribeye.

The idea was hatched when a need for meat in rural and less populated areas was identified.  There are plans to place the machines near campgrounds and other out-of-the-way spots.

The idea has been successful before in Asia, India and some European countries.  But with currently only one machine it might be awhile before you see Smart Butcher machines here.

Maybe in Tulia?
