David Letterman celebrated 30 years of doing late night television last night on his CBS show.

I've been a big Letterman fan since I discovered 'Late Night with David Letterman' on NBC when I was in high school.

I've held a long resentment of Jay Leno on behalf of Dave since Leno took over 'The Tonight Show'.

And like many die-hard Letterman fans I feel his NBC show was vastly superior to the CBS version.

Here are some fun moments, courtesy of YouTube from the days at NBC.

THE MONKEY CAM!

THE ALKA SELTZER SUIT! (which almost killed a producer in taping)

CRUSHING THINGS WITH A 90-TON HYDRAULIC PRESS

TERRI GARR TAKES A SHOWER

THE 4TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, FROM A PLANE

I REALLY MISS VIEWER MAIL

Here's to another 30 years, Dave!
