The Rehoming And Rehabilitation Of Unwanted Dogs And Cats During The Christmas Holiday

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for killing his girlfriend's kitten named Kisses as the couple argued.

A jury in Dallas on Thursday sentenced 36-year-old Edwon Julian, who was convicted of felony animal cruelty. The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/19yo83V ) reports Julian was acquitted of assaulting the woman during the same 2012 incident.

Prosecutors say Julian has a previous conviction from a 2004 incident in which a toddler he was watching was scalded.

Testimony indicated Julian and Rosa Dismuke last July got into an argument at her Richardson apartment.

Investigators say Julian grabbed the kitten, swung the animal by the tail and let go. The cat went off the second-story balcony, hit a drainpipe and landed on the pavement. Kisses died at the scene.
