The tiny Texas town is making a big statement.

Claude, which is located just a few miles east of Amarillo, isn't known for much except for being on the way to Dallas. However, they are drawing some attention due to the signs they put up on their school campus.

Since Claude is so small, they only have on elementary school and one junior/senior high school. There are only about 400 students in Claude ISD. But those students are surrounded by the protection of their teachers and faculty, according to these signs.

The sign reads:

ATTENTION: Please be aware that the staff at Claude ISD is armed and may use whatever force necessary to protect our students.

School shootings are, unfortunately, a real threat in America. One of the most notable school shootings, Columbine High School, has inspired groups to come in and train faculty and students on how to handle an active shooter.

However, Claude ISD decided to make it part of their policy to allow teachers to carry firearms in school.

According to Superintendent Jeff Byrd, who spoke to KTXS, teachers at Claude ISD have guidelines for what caliber and type of ammo they may use. They are also required to take a monthly training course.

What do you think of Claude's decision to allow teachers to be armed in school?
