City Of Amarillo Approves Preliminary Atmos Rate Increase

You gas bill could be going up after the Amarillo City Council voted for an Atmos rate increase.

In October of last year Atmos first proposed the increase.  They were asking for a 20% hike.  Instead of approving it right away the city council exercised an option to give both parties 90 days to negotiate the rate and settle.

They agreed on a 14.58% increase.  For the average bill that is an increase of $2.68 per month.  The increase is needed to help fund infrastructure improvements and expansion of service.

The increase will take effect April 1st.
