Murder charges have been dropped against a former husband and wife.

Arthur Campbell was 23 years old when he was murdered in 1987.  Horace Green, 79 and Rosie Ann Greene, 65 were indicted two years ago for the murder.  The charges were dropped yesterday.

The Potter County District Attorney had three witnesses in the case but for various reasons they cannot or will not testify.

The Greens were originally suspected in the shooting death of Campbell at his rent home on the 2300 block of NW 14th.  Rosie Green and one of her sons were the beneficiaries of Campbell's life insurance policy.

One of the witnesses is Albert Charles Green, the Green's son and is currently serving a life sentence in prison and won't talk.  Another witness has difficulty remembering the incident and a third witness is a transient and can't be located.

Although the charges are dropped the case remains open and the charges could be reinstated.
