Changing Time With Trade-A-Thon Presented By Damron’s Pawn

This past Saturday on News Talk 940 we brought buyers and sellers together.

It’s the show that invites you to both call in and listen.  Call to sell, listen to buy.  It’s want ads on the radio just like an old school newspaper.  Except no stained fingers.  Tune in this Saturday morning at 9 for you chance to buy, sell, heck maybe even trade.

THE BIG QUESTION

We don’t ask much of our callers in return for the free airtime we give them except for one small detail.  It’s The Big Question, a poll question we ask all our callers.  It helps us both get to know them better and provides a theme that ties together all our calls.

It was time change weekend and we were all getting ready to adjust to losing an hour by Monday.  It got me to wondering how much or little the popularity of moving the clocks was with our callers.

I agree with our callers and don’t particularly care for adjusting our clocks.  I believe it is time to take a break from changing time twice a year and both measure the energy differences and decide if we like it better.

RULE 6

The show’s mechanics are fairly simple.  You call us, we put you on the air, you tell everyone what you have for sale.  There are also some finer points of conduct during the show and we go over those at the beginning of each hour.

We call them the Trade-A-Thon rules and along with the five regular rules, I always bring you a special Rule #6 that changes every week.  It is sometimes inspired by something that happened to me over the last week.  This week it was a bit more topical and we stayed with the time change.

The time change seems pretty worthless, no matter springing forward or falling back.  It does provide a convenient a time to do a few maintenance chores around the homestead.  We do this rule for both time changes and we hope you follow them for safety and energy savings.

Rule #6 Saturday night move clocks ahead one hour, check smoke detector batteries, and change ceiling fan rotation for warmer weather.

During the warmer months your ceiling fan should be rotating counter clockwise to pull air down from the ceiling.  Run it from low to high depending on the hear.  In the winter it should rotate clockwise to pull air up to blow the hot air trapped at the ceiling down along the walls.  It should always be run on low.
