Caprock overcame an 11-point deficit to claim a huge District 3-5A win over Canyon 24-21 on Friday at Dick Bivins Stadium. With the win, the Longhorns pulled into a third place tie with the Eagles, both with 4-2 records, with one game to go in the regular season. Caprock can clinch a playoff berth with a win at Hereford this week. Canyon can also clinch with a win at Plainview this Friday.

Amarillo High became the first team in the district to clinch a playoff berth with a 38-7 thumping of Palo Duro on Thursday. The 5-1 Sandies are tied with Dumas for the top spot and will host the Demons this week in a battle for the 3-5A crown.

The Randall Raiders are still alive in the playoff chase as well. The Raiders beat Plainview 24-7 on Friday to improve to 3-3 in district play. Randall needs a win over Palo Duro and a loss by Caprock to Hereford this week to claim the final playoff spot.

Tascosa had an open date last week and will return to action this Thursday at home against San Angelo Central.
