The City Complex in Canyon is busting at the seams and looking for expansion options.

The complex was built in 1975.  With the growth in Canyon since then all the available space in the complex is full.  Almost a year ago the city contracted with Lavin Architects to study the space they have and the space they are likely to need over the next 20 years.

The city is operating in about 29,000 square feet and the need is for 59,000.

The City Complex in Canyon is home to the business office, code enforcement, municipal court, the police department and the volunteer fire department.  Canyon has seen rapid growth in the past five years and all available space has been taken up.

Canyon currently employees 140 full and part-time employees.

Options being considered are building new structures or leasing other one, such as the unused Randall County Courthouse.
