Bill Would Require American History For Texas College Students
A bill has been scheduled for a hearing that would require college students in Texas to take more history.
Rep. Giovanni Capriglione from Southlake introduced the bill last month after a report criticized the University of Texas and Texas A&M's handling of history.
Texas college students already take history in their core classes. A recent report questioned whether narrowly focused classes we're serving their purpose. The bill aims to require students to take classes with a broad overview of American or Texan history.
