One of the newest faces to shine at the ProNews 7 Anchor desk is Amarillo native, Lindsey Stiner. You can watch Lindsey as she brings you your weekend news. We caught up with Lindsey for our “Little Known Facts” series.
What's the most interesting thing you've done?
“I would have to say, probably, getting married. It's very interesting walking through the process.”
Do you have any awards?
“In College, I received an Emmy for 'Best TV Commercial.' I also received the 2011 Media Honor Roll from the TASB. I was nominated by Claude ISD and it was a huge honor.”
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?
” I suppose a phone wouldn't count (laughing), so I would have to say a good book to read, take my best dog (Sammy) and my swimsuit.”
(ed note: Sammy is a rescue dog, who looks like Benji, and goes everywhere with her)
Who has been your occupational inspiration?
“Diane Sawyer. I heard her say once, and I'll never forget it, that as a good journalist 'You never stop asking the question, why?'. I remember, at the age of 14 I wanted to be a broadcaster. I interned in High School and remember watching a Diane Sawyer story that touched me and made me cry. From that day, I was hooked.”
What has been the weirdest job related question?
“Well, it's not the weirdest, but it is one of the most common questions. People always assume we have people do our hair and makeup, but we do our own.”
If you weren't a journalist/broadcaster, what would you be doing?
“I think I would have been an Elementary Teacher. Luckily, with my job, I get the best of both worlds. Every Thursday I do a 'Region 16 Spotlight Education Report,” so I get to hang around schools with wonderful children and teachers.”
What is something your viewers don't 'know' about you?
“I am a huge animal lover and all of my dogs are rescue animals.”
(ed note: Lindsey has 3 dogs: Sammy, Bandit and Dolce)
When's your Birthday?”
What's one of the things you love about your job?
“I love being responsible for delivering an accurate newscast and reporting it to my viewers. The words I say can really impact their lives. I also love interacting with the community, because the people in the Panhandle are so wonderful.”
Where's the most interesting place you've been?
“Well, I worked in Portland, Maine and lived in Augusta from 2007 to 2009. I love Maine; the scenery and the change of seasons in the fall. While in Maine, I got to experience a tractor/hay ride through the woods, when the leaves were falling and sip on apple cider. It's one of my favorite things I have done.”
Once again, I'd like to thank Lindsey Stiner for taking time to talk to us for our “Little Known Facts” series. You can catch Lindsey every Saturday and Sunday at 5pm and 10pm as she brings you the latest news on ProNews 7.
