Mike Roden was born and raised right here in the Panhandle in Memphis. He began his radio career as a weekend DJ for KBGH-AM in Memphis during high school. After graduating in 1979, he also worked for several months at KCTX-AM in Childress before heading to West Texas State University in Canyon. In 1981, Mike returned to his roots to work at KLSR-FM in Memphis. He moved to a full-time board operator position the following year before moving into the Sports Director’s position in 1989. It was that same year he also began doing color commentary and eventually play-by-play for local high school football, basketball, volleyball and baseball teams on the Amarillo Sports Network, which is now known as the Texas Panhandle Sports Network.
