An arrest has been made in the July killing of 30-year-old Gary Garcia.

Garcia had been reported missing August 3rd.  His body was found just outside the city limits north of Amarillo by tree trimmers in the rural area on Cherry Avenue west of the Dumas highway on August 25th.

Investigators believe Garcia was killed nearly four weeks earlier on July 39th.  An autopsy indicated that Garcia died of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

36-year-old Nicholas Tafoya has been arrested and charged for the murder.  He's being held on a $500,000 bond.  Tafoya was also charged with robbery, evading arrest, tampering with evidence, and unlawful possession of a firearm.  He also has an unknown municipal court charge.  According to a criminal complaint filed with the Potter County DA's office Tafoya has admitted to an investigator that hie killed Garcia.

An incident at a Toot 'N Totem between Garcia and Tafoya led investigators to Tafoya and some of the charges are related to that incident.
