September 11, 2012 marks the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States.  We have been at war for 11 years and it seems that people are beginning to forget the reasoning?

We can all sit down and think back to the horrific morning of September 11, 2001.  It doesn’t matter what city you lived in at the time, we all share that memory.  But as we near the eleventh anniversary of those horrid attacks, are we as a country forgetting to honor those fighting for our country?

No questions asked, we will always have the memories, but what we are forgetting is that we are still at war.  Eleven years and we still have thousands of young men and women overseas.  Each year the President says that we are close to bringing them home, but the time never comes.

Dallas Chambers said, “This is the Vietnam of our time,” and I’m beginning to think he is right.  Many people don’t know why we have troops overseas or that we are still at war.  Yes, the US captured and killed Osama bin Laden but that didn’t bring our troops home.

On September 11, 2001 the US lost 2, 982 people to terrorist attacks.  Since then, the US has lost more than 236,000 men and women.  These men and women are sons, brothers, dads, grandpas, husbands and friends.  And many of them enlisted as soon as they were old enough.

I once heard that trauma has an expiration date, but does it?  Yes, the past wars have come and gone but the trauma lingers.  We here in the US don’t see the war on a day to day basis, so it has made it easier to move on.  Outta sight, outta mind.

Let’s put 9/11 back in our minds.  Lets remember that there are thousands of US troops fighting so that we may live freely.  Fighting so that no terrorist will threaten to take anything from us.

We often get lost in our lives forgetting that the men and women overseas make it possible for us to have cell phones and wear whatever clothes we want to wear.  It is because of them we have an option to go to school and better ourselves.  It is because of these peoples that we can live whatever lifestyle we choose to live.

On the eleventh anniversary of 9/11 lets take some time and remember those that we have lost and those that continue to fight for us.  Lets remember all the troops overseas, the troops here in the US, and all the new recruits that are bravely volunteering their lives for us.

Here are some videos of 9/11 take some time and remember.
