APD Responds To Active Shooter At Wal-Mart

The active shooter incident at the Walmart at I-27 & Georgia has been resolved.

Earlier today Amarillo police and several other law enforcement agencies responded to an active shooter with hostages at the store.  The store was evacuated and the authorities established a perimeter to work the scene.

Sometime after noon the Amarillo SWAT team was able to enter the store.  They shot and killed the suspect.  All hostages were released unharmed.

The name of the shooter has not been released.

The APD is asking you to avoid the area if possible.
