If you have a warrant with the City of Amarillo and you live at the address you gave police you can expect a visit from the authorities any day now.

Last week was the beginning of the warrant roundup in Amarillo.  Mailers were sent out to all outstanding warrant holders informing them they need to address those legal issues.  Those that didn't clear their warrant can now expect a visit from the police at the address they gave the authorities when they were arrested or ticketed.

Initially police will give the warrant holder an opportunity to make payments on their warrant.  If they can't pay they are arrested and will have to "sit it out" in jail.

If the police knock on a door and no one answers the door, the police leave a red tag on the door telling residents they will be back.

According to Amarillo police there are around 34,000 outstanding warrants in Amarillo.  The roundup will last all week.  If you are in doubt if you have a warrant or not you can go to the APD's website and look it up.
