Amarillo Woman Killed Attempting To Cross I-40

An Amarillo woman was killed early this morning when she attempted to walk across I-40 and was struck by two cars.

It happened right after 4am on I-40 east of Ross and west of Nelson.  Officers determined the woman was trying to cross from north to south and was in the center lane when she was hit.

The first car to hit her was a 2004 Buick driven by a 60-year old woman.  The pedestrian was then hit by a 2009 Chevrolet driven by a 31-year-old woman.

Police are still investigating the incident.
