Amarillo Tow Truck Driver Killed & Another Injured When Truck Falls

A sad story as a wrecker operator was killed and another injured in an accident today. HD Wrecker service had employees working under a truck and the unthinkable happened.

On January 7, 2014 at 1:04pm, officers were sent to HD Wrecker service at 6116 Canyon Drive on a work site accident. Officers found that two employees of the wrecker service were working under a pickup that had been attached to and lifted with a fork lift. The pickup fell from the fork lift and struck both employees. The female employee was trapped under the vehicle, and used her cell phone to call for assistance. Another employee in the shop responded. When the vehicle fell on both employees, the male was killed and the female sustained life threatening injuries. The female was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The names of those involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
