Potter and Randall county officials are cracking down on alcohol related accidents and deaths this year. Just in time for the New Year's Eve holiday.

The effort is known as 'No Refusal' and allows officers to obtain a blood search warrant for drivers who refuse to give a breathalizer sample. This warrant will help officers ability to test drivers who might be over the .08 legal limit.

The effort will run from 6PM Friday to 6AM Monday. Police officers in Amarillo & Canyon will take part in this program this year.

The number of alcohol related injuries and deaths rises every year. That is what has spurred the implementation of this program.

Potter County Attorney Scott Brumley said “Our goal is to make sure it doesn’t happen”
