Amarillo Sees Steady Rise In Sex Offenders In The Area

The Amarillo Police Department says Amarillo has seen a steady rise in sex offenders over the last few years.

Amarillo has almost 1700 sex offenders, up by almost 200 from three years ago.

Those numbers include offenders who have moved away, been incarcerated or are deceased.

The main reason for the rise is due to offenders moving into the area and the APD being able to more effectively investigate cases and make arrests.
