The cold snap has led to a dramatic increase in people seeking assistance at the Amarillo Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is reporting they have 91 in the family and women shelter and 116 the men's shelter.  These numbers are greater than normal and due in large part to the first major cold snap of the season.

The Salvation Army is asking for your help in meeting the needs of so many homeless people.  The critical need is for new or gently used pillows and blankets.  Of course, any donation will be accepted.

Donations are accepted at 400 South Harrison.
