A local high school referee has been doing double duty for the NFL.

There is a bitter labor dispute going on between the NFL and it's Game Officials.

The impasse doesn't look to be solved anytime soon.  The season begins tomorrow night with Dallas at New York Giants.

Between now and then the NFL has been utilizing replacement refs, wherever they can find them.

They found one in Amarillo.

Wayne Bernier called a NFL preseason game over the weekend before 69,444.  That's a significant increase over an average High School game.  Bernier is also a local High School Football ref.

If the lockout of NFL refs continue look for him to pick up more games this season.
