A little over a week into the government shutdown and the City of Amarillo is having to deal with some related issues.

A handful of programs administered by the city are made possible with government funding.  With the shutdown those funds are not available.  This means those programs will either have to be suspended of funding will be have to found elsewhere.

City transit, WIC and HUD are the main services that could be affected.  So far no services have been affected but with federal government offices closed some city offices are facing a backlog from the lack of federal inspectors, approvals and information.

HUD projects and city transit are funded for the next two months.  WIC is funded until the end of the month.
