The holiday season always sees an uptick of criminal activity.  The Amarillo Police Department is reminding citizens to be proactive and take steps to protect themselves.

Thieves casing parking lots and looking for unlocked cars with an eye towards stealing whatever they can find of value in the vehicle.  The APD advises you not to leave valuables in your vehicle and never leave you car running unattended.

You can help by being diligent and reporting any crimes you witness.  If you have information about any unsolved crimes or wanted fugitives, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.  If your tip leads to an arrest you could receive an award of up to $1,000.
