Amarillo Police Officer Involved In Car Accident Tuesday

An Amarillo police officer was involved in a car accident at 34th & Georgia Tuesday morning.

Around 7am a Jeep and an Amarillo police cruiser collided.  The police officer was traveling west on 34th with the driver of the Jeep traveling east.  The driver of the Jeep did not have their headlights on.  The Jeep crossed the center of 34th and drove into the policeman's car.

The officer had to be extricated from the cruiser and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.  The driver of the Jeep walked away uninjured and was detained for questioning.
