The Amarillo Police department is increasing its patrols on the streets looking for impaired drivers.

Thanks to a grant from TxDot extra officers will be out on patrol to focus on catching impaired drivers, speeders, and more.  Remember to wear your seatbelt and use a hands free device if you are using your phone.

The Amarillo Police department also reminds motorists to avoid drinking and driving, obey speed limits and ensure that children are properly restrained.

APD says to expect strict law enforcement throughout the holiday season.
