Amarillo Police Arrest Two After Finding Drugs During Traffic Stop
Amarillo police arrested two women Sunday night after a traffic stop in the 800 block of north Apache.
One of the women was wanted on a felony warrant and was recognized by an office in an unmarked police car. He radioed for a marked patrol unit that eventually pulled the vehicle over.
During the investigation 35-year-old Melody Renae Carter was identified as a wanted individual after first giving officers a false name. Carter was booked into Potter County for an outstanding parole violation warrant and failure to identify as a fugitive.
The officers also found 64 grams of meth, 90 prescription pills and a small amount of marijuana. Officers determined the drugs belonged to 28-year-old Billie Jeanne Ramirez who was the passenger.
Ramirez was also booked into Potter County for possession of a controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
