Amarillo Police Alerting Citizens To Phone Scam

Blackberry Style LoungeThe Amarillo Police department is warning citizens of a potential phone scam that involves the police department.

The APD has gotten reports of a male making phone calls to people and claiming to be from the police department.  The call is a solicitation to donate to the police department.

The Amarillo Police department wants you to be aware they do not make phone calls to collect donations.  If you get a call like this you are advised to hang up.

If you’ve fallen victim to the scam and given out money or personal information, contact the APD at 378-3038.
