Amarillo Man Sentenced In Child Trafficking Case

Deswan Newsome of Amarillo was caught in a FBI sting when soliciting for sex with a minor.

The 19-year old was actually communicating with an officer online pretending to be an underage girl.  The investigation began when an undercover officer noticed him attempting to use Facebook to entice girls into prostitution.

According to Federal prosecutors Newsome initiated contact in March and April. Newsome was arrested when he arranged a meeting at an Amarillo convenience store.

He was sentenced Friday to 11 years in Federal Prison.
