Amarillo Man Arrested For Attempted Vehicle Theft

An Amarillo man was arrested yesterday morning after being caught allegedly trying to steal a vehicle.

Amarillo police were called to the 300 block of North Kentucky on a report of a man trying to steal a vehicle.  Responding officers found 24-year-old John David Nunez sitting in the homeowner's vehicle.

Nunez refused police commands to exit the vehicle.  Officers readied a taser to use on the suspect and he then fled the vehicle on foot.  After a foot pursuit he was apprehended and booked into Potter County.

He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault with bodily injury, and Nunez also had a warrant from the city.
