An Amarillo man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly throwing a kitchen knife at an officer.

Amarillo police were called to the area of Northeast 24th and Echo on a report of disorderly conduct. Responding officers located 19-year-old Justin Anthony Sevier walking in the area.

When officers attempted to contact Sevier, the man pulled a large kitchen knife from his backpack. Sevier then threw the knife directly at the officer. The officer was able to dodge the knife and was not injured.

Sevier then fled on foot but was eventually apprehended by officer.

Sevier was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charges of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant, Prohibited Weapons(knife with blade over 5 ½ inches in length), and Evading Arrest/Detention.
