An Amarillo man has been charged with numerous crimes after an incident with Amarillo police early Saturday morning.

Just after midnight on Saturday Amarillo police pulled a vehicle over for a traffic violation at Northeast 24th and Cleveland.  Officers activated their lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The driver pulled over and exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Offices chased down the man and had to tase him to take him into custody.  Authorities later realized the man had left a 5-year-old child in the car when he fled.

Orella Adoni Vasquez, 29 was charged with evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle, DWI with passenger under 15 years of age, abandon/endangering child criminal negligence and was booked into Potter County.
