Amarillo ISD Increasing School Security

With school shootings in the news so much lately it's time to stop thinking it couldn't happen here.

AISD School Board members have met and decided to begin taking bids on an electronic entry system that requires guests to be buzzed-in before they can enter.  The systems will first be installed in all the elementary schools.  The system will also include a video camera.

Some campuses have already beefed up some security by locking all their doors from the outside.

It is hoped the new measures will help standardize efforts at all Amarillo campuses.
