An afternoon fire at the 300 block of North Bowyer was the scene of an unique rescue.

When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from a single story residence.  A second alarm was called as the fire spread.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in 15 minutes.

Inside the home firefighters found five cats in the house.  They were able to save three of the cats.  The fire was ruled accidental.

Estimated damages from the fire is estimated at around $30,000.
