Last night the Amarillo City Council met for a brief 30 minutes, moving forward with determining the replacement for Brian Eades.

Councilman Eades is stepping down from his seat on the council at the end of July.  After a period of submitting applications for the seat the council moved forward and named finalists for the seat.

There were 14 candidates and according to Mayor Harpole, himself and the three other members of the council, excluding Eades, each ranked the 14 applicants.  The top five lowest scores advanced to the next stage of the process, interviewing with the council in open session.

The finalists are:

Lisa Blake, current Executive Director of Leadership Amarillo.

John Ingerson, who has run for the council twice and lost both times made the final five.

James Lowder, a cyber security auditor who received the Meritorious Service Medal while serving in the Navy.

Sandra McCartt, who was a previous opponent of the Multi-Purpose Event Venue but has since come out in support of the project.

Thomas Warren II, a local business owner and senior editor of On The Road magazine.

Eades cannot vote on his replacement but will be a part of the interview process.
