If you are a chicken raising enthusiast in Amarillo you are well aware of the local ordinance limiting you to no more than four chickens and no roosters.  That isn't going to change anytime soon.

Yesterday the Animal Control Board voted unanimously to reject a proposal to amend the ordinance.  The issue has been brought before the board several times and each time the answer is the same.

Potential unsanitary conditions and possible on site butchering of chickens are the primary concerns listed by the board for refusing to amend the ordinance.
