Early Sunday morning, around 4am Amarillo Police responded to a burglar alarm at the Quick Quack car wash at 1001 Amarillo Boulevard East.

Upon arrival officers found a broken glass door, a safe that had been pried open and a computer that had been pulled out of it’s cabinet.

The suspect fled before officers arrived.

Within a few minutes of responding to the call, Amarillo Police spotted a man in the roadway in the 1100 block of Garfield.  An office spoke to the man and attempted to detain him as a suspect.

The suspect then twisted away from the officer and resisted his attempt at securing handcuffs.  He turned and faced the officer with his fists up and then fled on east 11th.

The officer pursued him into the 1100 block of North Arthur, where the officer used a TASER to stop the suspect and took him into custody.

The man was in possession of evidence linking him to the burglary and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Joseph Lee Roberts, 17 was booked in Potter County for burglary of a building, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and a local warrant for failure to attend school.
