On the ballot for the November 5th election is a multimillion dollar recreation center.  It was the lead topic of discussion at the AISD board meeting last night.

The Chief Financial Officer, Les Hoyt gave reasons why the sports complex is needed.  He cited the school districts current use of the Amarillo Town Club for practice and swim meets.  That facility is small and lessens the number of opportunities for students.

The ARC is a planned expansion of the Rick Klein Sports Complex in southeast Amarilllo.  The election will determine if the property tax hike will be approved for construction of the facility.  Tax payers would face a $25 tax increase on a $100,000 property.
