It wasn't easy for either team but the Amarillo High girls and Caprock boys soccer teams are still alive in the playoffs after 2nd round wins on Tuesday.

The Amarillo High girls edged El Paso Andress 1-0 in Odessa to advance.  Madison Stokes goal in the 67th minute off an assist from Alex Wilhelm was the lone score of the game and was enough to send the Lady Sandies into the Regional Quarterfinals against Lubbock Coronado.  That match is set for Friday at 5 p.m. at Plains Capital Park in Lubbock.

Caprock took a thrilling 3-1 overtime win over El Paso Jeffereson to move into the regional quarterfinals. Juan Carrasco scored in the 59th minute of regulation and then Danny Flores had 2 goals in overtime to give Caprock the win. The Longhorns will take on El Paso Bowie this Friday at 5 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa in round three.

- In high school baseball on Tuesday, Randall rolled past Hereford 14-0 in District 3-5A.  The Raiders move to 7-0 and remain tied for district lead with Amarillo High.

Dumas won over Caprock 8-5 and Canyon edged Palo Duro 6-5.

In 2-6A play, Tascosa lost a close one at #7 Frenship 3-2. In 1-4A, Bushland beat Dalhart 12-2.

- In softball, Canyon remains atop the 3-5A race with an 8-4 win over Amarillo High.

Randall beat Caprock 10-7, Dumas routed Palo Duro 17-5 and Hereford beat Plainview 3-0.

Bushland won over Dalhart 12-1. River Road beat Childress 18-3.

- Dennis Smith Jr. scored 18 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 115-109 win over Portland.
