6-Year Old Amarillo Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself

A six year old boy staying with relatives accidentally shot himself in the stomach on Saturday.

The incident happened ay a home in the 9000 block of Orry in Amarillo.  The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was then flown to Lubbock for more treatment.  His condition now is stable.

It is not know how the boy got access to the gun.  The homeowner told police the gun had been hidden.  Family members that were present did not witness the incident.

The homeowner could be facing a charge of Making a Firearm Accessible to a Child.
