An early morning crash on Tuesday claimed the lives of four people.

It happened around 5am about two miles north of Dumas on US-287.  A car traveling on the wrong side of the highway struck another car head-on.  All four occupants of the vehicles died at the scene.

45-year-old Marc Joseph and 38-year-old Kenzy Seme both from Dumas and 69-year-old Gregorio Avalos-Rivera and 57-year-old Jose Chaves both from Spearman are the deceased.

Preliminary reports show Avalos-Rivera was operating a 2017 Toyota Corolla going the wrong way in the northbound lane of the highway.  He struck Joseph who was driving a 2011 Nissan Rouge.  All passengers were wearing seat belts.

The accident saw the highway being closed at the accident scene for some time.  Traffic was detoured around the area.
