HOUSTON (AP) — The two survivors of gunfire at a Houston-area apartment remain hospitalized as officers seek the shooter in the attack that also claimed three lives.

A spokeswoman for Memorial Hermann-Texas Trauma Institute says the two wounded people were patients Thursday. Alex Rodriguez declined to release conditions on the man and woman hospitalized since being shot Wednesday afternoon.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office on Thursday didn't immediately update efforts to identify and locate the gunman blamed for killing a man and two women. Authorities believe all five victims were shot while they were seated.

Sheriff Adrian Garcia says the victims were in their late teens to early 20s. He didn't release their names.

Garcia says investigators who searched the apartment found guns and a substance that appeared to be an illegal drug.
