You Can See Where You're Going

Amarillo is right in the center of the Great Plains. That means the landscape is flat and seems to stretch out forever in every direction. There are no trees, no mountains... And we love that! You can always see where you've been and where you're going.

    The Economy

Amarillo is the center of commerce in the Texas Panhandle, so we are the home to thousands of companies. Our housing prices are low and there is always a new business coming to town.

    Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport

Most communities the size of Amarillo don't have their own airport. But in Amarillo, we can catch a flight to just about anywhere (as long as there is a connecting flight). Our airport is small enough to get in and out of quickly and efficiently, but large enough to house six gates and three airlines.

    It's Not Lubbock

We think this is pretty self-explanatory.

    Sunsets

Because of its placement on the wide-open plains, the people of Amarillo have an unobstructed view of every magnificent sunset. Our skies are painted in blues, purples, reds, pinks, and oranges that would blow a New Yorker's mind.

    Tight-Knit Community

Amarillo is growing in population, but that doesn't change the unity of our community. In times of tragedy or joy, the people of Amarillo never hesitate to join together.

    It's Safe

Amarillo has experienced a downward trend in overall crime over the past few years. Even before that, it wasn't hard to feel safe in Amarillo.

A Great Place To Raise a Family

Going hand-in-hand with #4, Amarillo is a wonderful place to raise your kids, but not just because it's a safe place Between the zoo, the Discovery Center, Wonderland, the botanical gardens, ice skating at the Civic Center, concerts, Splash, bowling at Western Bowl, and more, there is a lot of opportunity for family fun. There are over 35 elementary schools, 10 middle schools, and six high schools, not including the five+ Christian academies. The Canyon School District also welcomes in the Amarillo students from Randall County to their excellent school system.

    The Food! Duh!

Amarillo is unique in that it offers a wide variety of cuisine. There are the local gems, like Sharky's Burrito Company (better than Chipotle) and 575 Pizzeria, that satisfy everyone's cravings. We also have a huge selection of Thai food and several hibachi grills. Our burgers are the best, whether you want it super spicy from Coyote Bluff or extra greasy from Blue Sky. It might take you longer to name all of the steak houses in Amarillo than it will take you to drive to your favorite one and eat dinner. You can add a foreign flair at Indian Oven or try something hand-crafted at Public House. And let's not forget the chicken fried steak smothered in jalapeno gravy at Green Chile Willy's. And we haven't even gotten started on the desserts!

    The People

No matter who you ask, everyone's favorite part of Amarillo is the people. We are surrounded by friendly faces and caring hearts. Even if you aren't from Amarillo, the people here will welcome you with open arms and treat you like family. We are so thankful for the people that make Amarillo great.

We hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving, whether it's here in Amarillo or elsewhere. We encourage to to share why you're thankful you live in Amarillo!
