It may seem that the Ebola scare is over, but don't get too excited.  It is still a concern and it could be right her in the panhandle.

Public health officials have announced that less than 10 people are under Ebola quarantine until January 27th.  The quarantine just arrived from West Africa, where Ebola infections are the worst.  According to Amarillo Public Health Authority Dr. Roger Smalligan, all Ebola tests have come back negative.  But, they are continuing to follow the appropriate guidelines so that everyone is safe.

The Public Health Department will be monitoring them closely by phone and visits.  The likelihood that the general public could be at risk is very low.  Unless a person has direct unprotected contact with the blood or body fluids (urine, saliva, feces, vomit, sweat, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola, they will not contact the virus.

No names or ages have been given due to privacy issues.

Some symptoms include, headache, nausea and fever.  Since the travelers came from West Africa, extra precautions are being taken, but with it being flu season the Health Department doesn't want the public to panic.

Amarillo isn't the only ones dealing with this scare.  One hundred Colorado troops have been sent to a temporary quarantine at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state on their way home from an Ebola-fighting mission in West Africa.  None of them are expected to have the virus.
